Yesterday the The Strong National Museum of Play announced the 12 finalists for induction into the Toy Hall of Fame. These nominees are: Baby Nancy, bingo, Breyer Horses, Jenga, Lite-Brite, Masters of the Universe, My Little Pony, Risk, sidewalk chalk, Sorry!, Tamagotchi, and Yahtzee.
This year looks tough! I have lots of childhood memories of playing Sorry! and Yahtzee, but I would play a game of Yahtzee any day over Sorry! I recall learning so much math from Yahtzee (my mother was a math teacher) and even now we always bring it on camping trips. In my opinion, Yahtzee is such a great mix of math and luck I absolutely think it deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame! As for my second pick… what to choose? I loved and still love sidewalk chalk — but I also think Jenga is pretty awesome! And then there’s Risk… some good picks this year!
What’s YOUR vote?
You can place your vote at The Strong’s website and you can vote up to once per day. The public’s vote will act collectively as 1 vote on the 23 member committee. The inductees will be announced on November 5th. Stay tuned…
