2013 ChiTAG Preview: Events and Tournaments!


It’s just about time for the Chicago Toy and Game Fair aka ChiTAG — and I’ve got lots of fun insight as to what to expect at the show this year!  I’m going to break this article into 2 simply because there’s so much to share.  This week will be tournaments and things you might want to pre-register for.  Next week will be games to check out while you’re there!

Some quick details about the fair:

  • Saturday 11/23: 10am – 6pm
  • Sunday 11/24: 10am – 5pm
  • At the far end of Chicago’s Navy Pier
  • Admission is: $10 for adults, $5 for kids from 3-13 and admission is complimentary for Educators, Librarians, Scouts in Uniform, Firefighters, Police, Military and Industry Professionals (just go to the Trade Registration Desk)  FOR $2 OFF – PRINT THE COUPON ABOVE! (click to enlarge)

Blue Orange Games will be at ChiTAG this year and they’re running a few cool tournaments – and they’ll have them both days so it doesn’t matter which day you’re there!

Fastrack Tournaments are Saturday and Sunday 11am – 12pm

Spot-It Tournaments are Saturday and Sunday 4pm – 5pm

 

OversightGriddly Games: Beat the Inventor

Who doesn’t want to try to beat the inventor at their own games?  The first five people to play against the inventor of Oversight and WIN gets a FREE game.

There’s still time to register for this one and they’ll even offer some on-site registration if there’s room available.  If you make it past the prelims on Saturday, the semis and finals are on Sunday.  Here’s the link if you’re looking to register: https://chitag-fair.squarespace.com/settlers-of-catan-worldwide-championship-usa-pre-qualifier  and it’s FREE for ChiTAG Fair attendees!  And the prize is pretty bad-ass too: Travel costs, hotel stay and a 4-day GenCon pass PLUS a seat in the CWC Competition at GenCon.

Top Trumps: Scouts Touranments

World’s Largest Playdate!

It’s a Guinness World Records attempt for the largest number of participants in a clapping game.  Registration is FREE and can be done before the fair at:   www.playdateplanet.eventbrite.com or during the fair at Playdate Planet (Booth 719) by 12:30 on 11/24

Industry Event: Women In Toys Breakfast

Yeah, it’s called “Women in Toys” but it’s open to anyone who wants to go.   This year’s speaker lineup looks great:
